Who We Are

In 1964, two marketing visionaries, Jerry Huntsinger and Don Jeffer saw that the emerging technologies of the day offered a tremendous opportunity for direct marketers. Using early mass mail and personalization techniques they created direct marketing processes and strategies that helped set the standards for modern fundraising.

Today, more than five decades later, Huntsinger & Jeffer continues to choose and use the most effective channels in every medium, based on each client’s goals and needs. We bring to those channels the most compelling creative, coupled with detailed, sophisticated analytics so our clients get the greatest possible return on their fundraising investment.

H&J’s Deep Involvement in the Fundraising Industry

In 1964, our founder, Jerry Huntsinger helped launch direct marketing fundraising. From day one, we’ve been an active part of this vital industry. We are proud to be affiliated with its leading professional organizations including:

  • H&J and the TNPA recognize that nonprofits, NGOs and associations are looked to more and more to address the world’s most complex challenges. We strongly support TNPA because, like us, they are committed to being good stewards and faithful partners of the many nonprofits who make a positive, measurable difference in the world.

  • The CDC is the arm of The Nonprofit Alliance devoted exclusively to faith-based fundraising. H&J’s experience raising funds for religious organizations stretches back to our earliest days. We have a special affinity for nonprofits who see fundraising as a ministry, and we have a proven history of knowing how to speak to, and motivate, donors to support their work.

  • Washington, DC has been called the “fundraising capital of the United States” because of its proximity to the U.S. government, and because it is home to thousands of major nonprofits. The DMAW makes its headquarters in the region so it can keep its finger on the pulse of the fundraising industry and be a valuable advocate for both its nonprofit and corporate partners. H&J has been a proud and active member of the DMAW since its earliest days. Our employees have frequently served as conference presenters and as judges in the organization’s highly coveted annual Maxi Awards.

  • The Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association (DMFA) – H&J strongly supports the DMFA’s goals of increasing fundraising education, keeping members up to date on the latest trends and fundraising news, and sharing best practices. We’re proud to be among the many nonprofit organizations, direct marketing, advertising, and marketing agencies and partners, who support the DMFA’s work for excellence in fundraising.

  • As a leading association of nonprofit fundraisers, the AFP helps its members stay abreast of the most important trends and developments in the industry. The AFP is also one of the best resources for education, policy information, and best-practices for nonprofits and their commercial partners. H&J understands the value of this unique resource and is proud to be a supporting member.

  • Direct Mail remains far and away the most effective and profitable medium for direct marketing fundraising. The mission of The Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers is to help members navigate the sometimes byzantine world of postal regulations and rates, and serve as a strong advocate for the interests of nonprofits and the constituencies they serve. H&J strongly supports the Alliance’s efforts and we are proud to be a membership supporter of their work.
